From a young age Carly has been a seeker of knowledge and truth. This desire to learn and evolve has brought her around the world to study under many teachers and lineages. She is a multi-passionate spiritualist and thrives when empowering others to discover their most authentic selves. She does this in a variety of ways such as being a yoga teacher, retreat leader, doula, coach, reiki master and reflexologist.​

Hanna discovered yoga at age 15 and brings a unique blend of life experience, mindfulness, and passion to her teachings. With roots in both the USA and Morocco, she infuses curiosity and authenticity into each class. After a career in school teaching and a degree in the Neuroscience of Mindfulness, Hanna moved to Costa Rica and co-founded RYME. RYME creates different container for a variety of offerings including classes, global retreats and 1-1 coaching. At The Shala, her RYME Yoga offers a playful mix of nervous system regulation, yoga asana, music, storytelling, and community connection—creating a safe and balanced experience for all levels.

With nearly 25 years of experience, diverse teachers and teachings, and time spent in an ashram spiritual community, Vajra presents a modern take on ancient practices, welcoming practitioners of all levels to experience greater clarity and spaciousness in daily life.

Zai
Zai’s Pilates journey began in Mexico City, where a single class sparked a lifelong passion. As a certified instructor, she offers welcoming and motivating sessions infused with support, humor, and mindfulness. Her classes balance challenge with accessibility, aiming to leave you feeling more connected to your body.

Beyond Pilates, Zai is a certified massage therapist, a skilled Meisner-trained actress, a barre instructor, and a talented belly dancer. She also holds certifications in Permaculture Design, Violin, and Ayurvedic Therapies, and has studied Anthropology and the medicinal plants of Costa Rica. In addition to teaching Pilates, Zai shares her love of music with the Dominical community and offers private sessions in Barre, Bellydance, Pilates, and Aerial Silks.

Juana encontró el yoga en un momento importante de su vida, cuando buscaba una forma de reconectarse consigo misma. A través de la práctica descubrió mucho más que una disciplina física: encontró un espacio para fortalecer su mente, escuchar su cuerpo y cultivar una conexión más profunda con su espíritu. El yoga se convirtió en una herramienta de transformación personal que le permitió encontrar equilibrio, bienestar y una mayor conciencia en su día a día.
Inspirada por esta experiencia, decidió formarse como profesora de yoga con el deseo de compartir con otras personas los beneficios que esta práctica ha aportado a su vida. Su intención es crear un espacio seguro y acogedor donde cada estudiante pueda explorar su propio camino, respetando sus necesidades y su ritmo personal.
Su estilo de enseñanza se basa en Vinyasa Flow, una práctica dinámica que integra el movimiento consciente con la respiración. A través de secuencias fluidas, busca ayudar a sus estudiantes a desarrollar fuerza, flexibilidad, concentración y presencia, promoviendo una conexión integral entre cuerpo, mente y espíritu.
Actualmente ofrece clases en español con el propósito de acercar el yoga a la comunidad costarricense y brindar una experiencia accesible y auténtica para quienes desean iniciar o profundizar en su práctica. Su mayor satisfacción es acompañar a cada persona en un proceso de autoconocimiento, bienestar y crecimiento personal a través del yoga.

Luiza
Luiza is originally from Brazil, she lived in the U.S and now calls Costa Rica home; she works as a Hatha Yoga instructor, an Ayurvedic Therapist & Chef which explores the clinical side of yoga. Her Hatha Yoga classes offer a space to reconnect with your body, calm the mind, and restore balance through mindful movement, conscious breathing, and relaxation. The practice gently stretches, strengthens, and mobilizes the body while cultivating inner awareness, grounding, and vitality. Accessible to all levels, including beginners, each class is held in a supportive bilingual environment where both English and Spanish speakers can feel comfortable and connected.

Erin
Erin’s approach to yoga is rooted in anatomy, curiosity, and play. As a 500-hour certified yoga teacher and Licensed Massage Therapist, she combines a deep understanding of the body with creative movement. Her teaching makes anatomy approachable and practical, blending education with exploration so students can better understand how their bodies function both on and off the mat.
Before stepping fully into the wellness world, Erin spent more than a decade as a professional dancer, singer and performer in New York City, an experience that shaped her appreciation for movement as both an art and a healing practice. Today, she co-owns and operates Flo Retreat Center in Uvita with her husband. Known for her energetic, down-to-earth teaching style, Erin creates learning environments that are accessible and playful.

Isa
Born and raised in a small town in Costa Rica, Isamar began exploring the holistic arts at 19 whilst traveling across Asia. Having received multiple yoga teacher trainings in India, Thailand, and China, as well as extensive trainings in Sound Healing, Meditation, Breathwork, numerous body work methodologies, and a long training in the art of Authentic Relating, her journey of self healing has transformed into a path of service.

Sound Practitioner & Retreat Facilitator
Melinda
Melinda is a local sound practitioner trained in Biofield Tuning and Mindful Meditation. She has a 6-year practice working with 1:1 clients and groups. 3 years ago, she integrated Biofield Tuning, the practice of aligning the energy body with Tuning Forks, with the coherent tones of crystal bowls supported with guided meditation.

When Melinda is not at The Shala or other local retreat and yoga centers she is facilitating women’s circles from her studio in Uvita and also online, called “She Became We”. She hopes to inspire more women to circle, commune, and support one another.


Zen Buddhism Instructor
Tommy
Tommy Hill first came to Zen practice nearly thirty years ago. After taking the Buddhist precepts in 2015, he was given the name Sogaku (Direct Perception) by Roshi Enkyo Ohara, founder of the Village Zendo in NYC. He has attended dozens of silent meditation retreats, and he and his wife Mannie (dharma name, BanKa, Ten Thousand Flowers) maintain a daily practice of Zazen. They adore their two sons and their two dogs, and are still totally into the Beatles, the Stones, David Bowie, old RnB and Soul music.
